Egidijus Buozis (born in 1965) is a jazz pianist, composer, producer and teacher.
In 1983 he finished M.K.Ciurlionis Art School and in 1988 graduated from the Lithuanian Music Academy.
He has given a number of solo piano concerts and performed with the State Symphonic and Lithuanian Chamber Orchestras.
At the age of 12 he became interested in jazz music. As a student of the Lithuanian Music Academy he became the 1st
prize winner in the International Jazz Improvisation competition in Vilnius (1984).
He has been performing not only solo but also with the most eminent Lithuanian jazz performers in Lithuania and abroad.
He has also participated in various jazz forums, seminars, symposiums in Lithuania and foreign countries.
The most memorable were Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen Acoustic Jazz Symposium (1993) and Jazz, Rock and Vanguard
Music at Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium starring jazz professionals from all over the world (1991).
As a composer in 1995 he published the first personal CD in jazzy-pop style named
'Town of Love'.
In the year 2000 he and Valerijus Ramoska (trumpet) recorded a jazz standards CD
'Solos and Duos', which the most
prestigious Lithuanian music magazine 'Gramofonas' ('Gramophone') appraised 'five gramophones' for the music
and sound mastering.
In 2002 Egidijus Buozis started a series of spontaneous jazz improvisation concerts named
'Impro-vizijos' ('Impro-visions') together with the most famous Lithuanian performers.
In 2003 he was nominated the 'jazz interpreter of the year' and was awarded the
'Golden CD' by the Lithuanian Union of Musicians.
In 2005 Egidijus Buozis exhilarates jazz lovers with his new CD
'At First Sight' where Egidijus Buozis performs his
compositions together with Valerijus Ramoska (trumpet, flugelhorn), Eugenijus Kanevicius (double bass) and Darius Rudis (drums).
The repertoire of Egidijus Buozis is wide: from well-known jazz standards to original
contemporary jazz compositions using 'be-bop', 'hard-bop', 'cool', 'fusion' and 'acid-jazz' elements.
